The
Bienal de Sao Paulo brings together artists from all over the world to exhibit their works across a chosen theme in the large exhibition space of the Oscar Niemeyer Pavilion. The event is held every two years, and in 2004 the 'Free Territory' themed exhibition drew in more than one million visitors.
The Sao Paulo Gay Parade is one of the biggest of its kind, with more than two million revellers taking to the streets to soak up the carnival atmosphere. Usually held in June, the event involves floats, flamboyant dress, music and parades through the city.
