San Francisco is home to the longest-running film festival in America, the
International Film Festival, which takes place in April. It champions films from the around the world which usually have not secured a place in the US market, giving you the opportunity to catch the next big art-house hit before it arrives.
San Francisco is known for its vibrant gay community, which breaks out in celebration during
Gay Pride in June, which includes a colourful parade replete with floats and carnival spirit.
The Cherry Blossom Festival takes place in late April in Japantown, where thousands gather to see the blossoming of the cherry flowers.
