What's on in Moscow

Details of what's on in Moscow throughout the year

Festivals

The Russian Winter Festival is held across the country, with the Moscow event taking place in Izmailovo Park. This celebration of mid-winter involves concerts, troika rides and folk dancing.

In the last week of February Moscow celebrates one of Russia's oldest folk traditions – welcoming springtime - combined with the Christian pre-Lenten pancake tradition. The Maslenitsa festival, or Blini week, includes eating Russian pancakes with caviar, parades of Russian fairytale characters, theatre, fireworks and more folk music.
