Details of what's on in Bogota throughout the year

Festivals
On February 2nd the Candelaria district becomes a hotbed for religious fervour as this date was traditionally known as the day when the Virgin Mary presented Christ in the temple. Since Mary is the Patron saint of the Candelaria, the city organises a procession through the antique streets coordinating with choirs and churches in the district calling the festival the Procession of the Virgin of the Candelaria.

In August every year the city gets together to celebrate the founding of the city. Through 7th Avenue and downtown there are parades, a salsa festival and all manner of street performers and attractions that typify a Latin American celebration, not least the
Carnival of Bogota.

The Bogota summer festival also takes place from August 8th to 21st with 14 days of mayhem.
