City guide

Salzburg

Thursday, 31 Aug 2006 15:49
Salzburg is a city that is as enchanting as it is Mozart-mad, a whirlwind of baroque pleasures and ornate streets, towering spires and cosy cafes.

But if it is the genius composer you visit Salzburg for, you will not be disappointed. Countless museums in honour of old Wolfie line the streets and squares, with shops selling every Mozart-inspired product you could imagine, from chocolates to liqueurs to crockery and souvenirs.

Salzburg also boasts a wealth of castles, palaces, mountainous ranges and the impressive fortress of Hohensalzburg, which is widely considered to be the best-preserved medieval fortress in all of Europe.
