City guide

Madrid

Madrid bears all the hallmarks of a classic capital city, thanks to its unavoidable baroque architecture, bags of museums and a nightlife where partygoers literally dance and drink until dawn.

Located in the heart of Spain, visitors can expect either searing hot heat if they visit in the summer, or cold crisp days in the winter, with very little in between.

There are plenty of spectacular sights to take in with the Gran Via, Spain's answer to New York's Time Square, and the El Retiro, a huge park to relax in, which features structures similar to the Crystal Palace. Madrid also boasts one of the greatest art collections in the world at the Museo del Prado.

Kids are well catered for too, with a whole host of amusement parks to lose one's head in, and after spending a day screaming, every culinary palette is catered for in the Spanish capital's many restaurants.
