A visit to the thoroughly modern capital of Brazil promises an alluring mix of adventurous architecture sitting alongside lush, green spaces.
Not only innovative in terms of its buildings, Brasilia is also striking in its layout, though the fact the city is built in the shape of an aeroplane is perhaps something you will notice only from. . . the plane.
In spite of its modernity, Brasilia and its citizens still place the utmost importance on religion and mysticism. It is rife with religious monuments, including the Goodwill Temple, the Temple of the Rosacrucian Order and the ornate Don Bosco Sanctuary.
Brasilia is also worth a visit given the fact it was the first modern city to be awarded the status of Cultural Heritage of Mankind by UNESCO, recognising the achievements of the city's visionary architects, Lucio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer.
