To get to Rio de Janeiro city centre a shuttle bus runs every hour from the airport, stopping at the main hotels and beaches. The journey should take around 45 minutes.

For a taxi, it is advisable to go to the Rio de Janeiro state tourism authority desk, where you can buy taxi vouchers for your journey.

If travelling without taxi vouchers, ensure the meter has been reset from the previous journey, or you could end up paying over the odds.
