Getting around Washington DC

Tuesday, 05 Sep 2006 17:22
Washington has a big network of buses and metro services to cover the city.

A day pass for unlimited travel on both the bus and metro costs $6.50, and unlimited travel on the bus costs $3 for one region.

Locals use pre-pay fare cards called SmarTrip, but if you are not planning to stay for a long time, then it probably will not be worth paying the $5 charge to get the card.
