Getting around Stuttgart

Monday, 21 Aug 2006 16:23
Stuttgart is well-served by public transport, including the U-Bahn, which replaced the old tram system. Similar to the tram, the U-Bahn will take you to most places in the city, running underground in densely built-up areas.

There is also the S-Bahn, which is useful for reaching areas towards the outside of Stuttgart.

In addition, unique to Stuttgart, is its rack railway, an electric rail system that connects Marienplatz in the city centre, with Degerloch on the outskirts.

Visitors in Stuttgart are certainly spoilt for choice when it comes to modes of public transport, as the city also boasts a cable car network, which operates in the Heslach district.
