Getting around Melbourne

Most of Melbourne's city centre is within easy reach on foot, but if you're planning to go further afield then you can choose from trains, trams or buses. Melbourne is proud of the fact it is the only city in Australia to operate an extensive tram system, and you'll see lots of modern trams across the city.

Tickets, called Metcards, can be pre-purchased from train stations and stores displaying a Metcard sign and are interchangeable for use on all metropolitan public transport.
