Getting around Adelaide

Friday, 22 Sep 2006 16:22
The grid-structure and wide roads make Adelaide an easy city to get around, though traffic is on the increase.

When you are in the city centre (known as the CBD), look out for bright yellow free buses that travel the main streets and stop at many of Adelaide's main attractions.

To cover more ground you can take more traditional buses. Offpeak single tickets (valid between 9:00 and 15:30) cost AU$2.30, though if you are planning to make more journeys then the daytrip ticket for AU$7.20 will give unlimited travel for a day.

If you are staying longer then another option is the Alltimes Multitrip ticket (AU$25.10), valid for ten two-hour journeys.

If you are not sure of the best way to get around then head to the public transport info centre, located between King William and Currie Street in the CBD.
