Montreal is an alluring mixture of cobbled streets in the old town, spectacular sky-scrapers and friendly people from all origins.
It is Quebec's largest city, and its rich and varied make-up makes it the state's cultural centre. It is warm and pleasant during the summer, and while bitterly cold in the winter, those who brave the temperatures have great snow-sports on their doorstep, while those who would rather stay inside can hibernate in Montreal's impressive Underground City.
Montreal is a liberal city, and is full of hip, young locals who enjoy a vibrant party and restaurant scene.
