For travel happy Brits annual travel insurance is increasingly popular
Recent research by Datamonitor shows that an increasing number of Brits are taking out Annual Travel Insurance. The findings seem to indicate that, despite environmental concerns, we’re taking more flights than ever before. Indeed, this trend for increased travel has seen an overall growth in the travel insurance market of 1.4%. The report’s author Andrew Haslip commented: "The UK travel insurance market continues to benefit from the desire of the British public to travel abroad."
Amongst the reasons suggested for this apparent increase in foreign travel has been that more of us are visiting friends and family abroad and that, quite simply, for many of us one holiday a year just isn’t enough. In fact previous research found that most of us will now go on at least a couple of trips a year and an increasing minority (11%) will stretch to a frankly rather indulgent sounding 5 or more holidays a year.
For a nation of frequent flyers annual travel insurance does make a lot of sense. In most cases you’ll be covered for an unlimited number of foreign trips over the course of a year and even if you only make a couple of trips it could work out as a better deal than buying single trip cover. The advantages of annual cover go beyond the merely financial however, convenience is a big factor – get one policy for the whole year and its one less thing to think about every time you leave the country.
